I have been considering a firefighting career these past few months since I graduated high school, but I have also been thinking about joining the military (probably marines, although everyone tells me Air Force is the best). Would being a firefighter in the military be as exciting as being a fireman as a civilian? Up until this post I didn’t even know military bases had their own fire departments, which is just so cool! Well, thank you so much for the awesome blog, I appreciate it!

Thanks for the compliment Brandon. Enlisting in the service opens many doors for you. One of my sons is joining the Air Force. Firefighting jobs are tough to get and will only get tougher to get as municipalities tighten their belts. My advice is to keep an open mind as you look forward. If you don’t go into the service enroll in a community college with an eye on a four year degree. Best of luck to you young man!
